~~It's Snippet Sunday!~~
On Sundays, I share tidbits of my works in progress as part of Weekend Warrior’s 8-Sentence Sunday. This week's snippet is from my work in progress DISORDERLY COWBOYS, book 6 of my LONE WOLVES OF SHAY FALLS cowboy/werewolf/menage series.
Last week, in a foolish fit of loneliness, Lana decided to test the theory that her mates could sense distress. I edited the snippet that follows to fit the 8-sentence format.
Gritting her teeth,
Lana ascended the ladder, testing it with her weight before standing on it
fully. The ladder was old and creaked badly, which alone sparked enough fear in her to
scare up the cowboys--if they gave a damn anymore.
She winced when a splinter bit into her finger, but she kept her death grip steady and climbed higher. She was nearing the top when the rung beneath her gave an ugly crack, and Lana was lucky enough to scrabble onto the roof in time to keep herself from falling.
The bad news
was, her foot kicked the ladder askew in the process, sending it sideways before it clattered to the ground. She was left staring in horror from much too high up, lying flat on her belly with one leg dangling in midair.

Oh not good at all, but SUCH a vivid description, right down to the splinter. Excellent excerpt!
ReplyDeleteThat's really not a good position to be in, but I love the powerful, descriptive imagery of the scene. Great eight!
ReplyDeleteGreat description. She's got a problem, a big one.
