Sinfully Delicious Berry Kuchen

It's Too Yummy Tuesday!
On select Tuesdays I'll share delicious recipes inspired by my books!

About this recipe:

In my smoking hot werewolf fantasy SINFUL ELLA AND THE WOLF, Ella goes out to pick berries in the woods and encounters a strangely intelligent wolf. Here's an old world dessert recipe inspired by the berry tart she was sidetracked from making:

Sinfully Delicious Berry Kuchen

1 1/2 cups flour (divided)
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup cold butter/margarine
2 tbsp heavy cream
1/2 cup sugar
3 cups berries (fresh or frozen/thawed. If using frozen, drain well after thawing and pat dry a bit. You can also substitute fresh/canned peach or pear slices, also well drained and patted dry.)

TOPPING:
1 cup sugar
1 tbsp flour
2 eggs, beaten
1 cup heavy cream
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:

Combine 1 cup of the flour and salt in a bowl. Cut in butter to make coarse crumbs. Add the 2tbsp cream and blend well. Pat into a greased 13x9-inch baking pan. Combine the 1/2 cup sugar and divided 1/2 cup of flour. Sprinkle this over the crust. Arrange fruit over crust. For topping, mix sugar and flour together, then stir in the eggs, cream, and vanilla. Pour over berries. Cover with foil. Bake at 375 degrees F for 30 minutes; remove foil and bake additional 30-45 minutes until lightly browned and set. Serve warm or chilled.
