An Admission of Magic -Snippet Sunday

~~Today's snippet includes mature themes~~

On Sundays, I share work in progress as part of Weekend Warrior’s 8-Sentence Sunday

I've switched books this week, giving book 7 a rest while I do some last minute edits on DISARMING COWBOYS, book 6 of my Lone Wolves of Shay Falls series.

This week: our heroine makes a confession she fears could alter her how her mates feel about her...

“We seem to have knocked most of the pretty flowers out of your hair,” Jayson said in his teasing way. He reached out to slide a hand along her braid. “I’ll admit I’m dyin’ to let it down and see long, blonde locks flowin' over those creamy shoulders like Lady Godiva.”
He tugged at the elastic securing the braid, but Lana pulled away. “The braid is a kind of spell that helps protect me,” she said, but only if I leave it plaited.” To Jaysons raised brow she added, “You may as well know I’m pagan and practice magic, so if you have any misgivings, prejudice, or witch jokes in your system, lets get it out now.”
Her heart fluttered at his stunned expression. What if witches and werewolves were natural enemies or something? Now that she thought of it, why else would pagans be helping the huntress get revenge?

So what do you think?

  1. Oups! She might just have let her secret escape in front of the enemy or he is going to like it even more and they'll have a forbidden and dangerous relationship. This sounds promising.

  2. That's an interesting twist! Curious to see how he responds.

  3. I enjoy her confidence, hope by telling them more about herself she hasn't given away any advantages. I'm thoroughly engrossed in this story, another excellent excerpt.

  5. Hope he's stunned at the revelation, not that the groups are enemies. And I wonder how exactly that spell works, and what it does...

  6. I hope he's stunned he already knew that she was a witch and wasn't expecting her little outburst, not because they're enemies or anything. *fingers crossed*
