Alice's Rabbit Hole-Six Sentence Sunday

~~~~~
On select Sundays I'll be sharing a six-sentence excerpt from one of my works in progress, as part of Six Sentence Sunday.
This six is the next snippet from ONCE EVERY SPRING, my "sweet" urban fantasy WiP. I skipped a week last Sunday to plug my hubby's new book, so as a reminder, when we left off 2 weeks ago, Adam had just let slip the mention of a woman...
Dana swallowed the feeling that his small correction involved a female he didn’t want her to know about, and wondered why it even mattered to her. “Someone brought you to my tree?”
“No, I have a tree, too.”
Alice's rabbit hole could not possibly have been more confusing.
“What do trees have to do with getting us here, anyway?”
“Magic.”
