Apple Pie Bars: #Holiday #Recipe Exchange

12:00 AM 0 Comments
Instead of my usual Too Yummy Tuesday posts,  I’ll be featuring yummy recipes and delicious blurbs from some fellow romance authors throughout the holidays!

Today’s recipe comes from Trevann Rogers, author of After Midnight.

APPLE PIE BARS

Ingredients

1 package sugar cookie mix
1 egg
1/2-cup butter, melted
3/4 of can of apple pie filling
2 tbsp. brown sugar

Ground cinnamon to taste

·    Directions
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Butter a 8 x 8 in baking dish.
In a mixing bowl, combine sugar cookie mix, egg and melted butter.  Set aside ONE cup. Press the rest of the dough into bottom of pan.

Spread apple pie filling over dough. Break reserved cup of dough into small pieces and distribute evenly on top of filling.

Combine brown sugar and ground cinnamon. Sprinkle on top of dough. Bake for 30 minutes or until edges are brown and dough is cooked through. (Depending on your oven this could take longer.)

If desired, serve with vanilla ice cream. (I highly recommend it.)

After Midnight
(Prequel to House of the Rising Son,
Living After Midnight series)
by Trevann Rogers
Urban Fantasy

Jewell’s stepfather thinks she’s worthless. She agrees. When she looks in the mirror she sees an overweight, overemotional, overeating mess who can’t keep her fangs to herself.

Ria hails from a family of old world vamps who'd be happy to share their wealth with her, if only she’d fall in line. Fat chance, especially since being in that line includes not being gay.

Being in love is easy for Ria and Jewell—the young vampires belong together like vodka and tomato juice. Adding Cheyenne, a talented and sexy incubus, to their union is the hot sauce in their Bloody Mary. The only problem? Vampires and incubi are mortal enemies.

Despite the odds Ria, Jewell and Cheyenne find their way to happiness. But Jewell is hiding a huge secret, one that defies the laws of procreation: She’s going to have a baby.

While she tries to figure out how to break the unbelievable news to her lovers, a horror from Jewell’s past slithers into her present, forcing choices no one should have to make.

Will it be love or death? Happiness or safety? She has until dawn to decide...and it's already After Midnight.

Excerpt:

The choice between staying in on a Saturday night to clean and going to see Cheyenne at his first real gig hadn’t been a complicated decision. He was a world-class rocker who could play the guitar like a fiend and had a voice that made you feel…everything. Or made you horny. And fuck if she didn’t love him. Damn incubus.
She reached across him and caressed Jewell’s side. Jewell’s eyes opened and she stared expressionless at the ceiling, hyper-alert to danger. It always took a few moments after resurrecting for her to remember where she was and who was with her, but since moving into their new home it seemed to take even longer.
Ria sighed. She’d do anything if it would help Jewell feel safe enough to die each dawn and awaken peacefully. “All is well, Babydoll. It’s just me. Time to rise and twinkle with the stars.”
“Already?” Jewell scrunched her eyes and blinked as if trying to focus them.
Cheyenne lay his head on the soft swell of Jewell’s belly. “Didn’t we just go to bed?”
Ria kissed his back and licked a slow trail down his spine. “Hours ago. Did we tucker out the poor little sex demon?”
“Not hardly, dead girl.”
She grabbed a fistful of his hair and turned him to face her. “That’s undead girl, thank you.” She bit his lower lip and let it drag between her teeth. “Show us what you’ve got left.”

Tinsel, Takeovers, and Tossing Confetti

12:00 AM 0 Comments
On the first Monday of the month I gab about what's going on with me, my writing, and life in general.

Wow, the last 2016 update post already! How nutty is that?  Next time I do one of these, it'll be a new year. It gets harder to wrap my head around the concept of how time flies every time. EVERY time!

Tinsel
It's holiday time, and at our house the outdoor lights are twinkling, the tree is up,
Bri and MegaUni by the tree!
and the gifts I bought online are being delivered to a pile in the closet, waiting to be wrapped. At work, I've been sneaking around the break room, dropping off my Secret Santa gifts. And in my writing world, I joined the Brazen Bookshelf Advent Calendar giveaway, where a group of authors are offering new free romance/erotica reads every day from Dec 1-24. If you're not on my newsletter and thus didn't see the announcement, you can still join up for freebies! Go HERE to get in on the advent fun. (And psst...then sign up for my newsletter so you won't miss out on cool stuff like this!)

You might just want to take advantage of that newsletter sign up right now, since I'll be announcing a free holiday short story coming out soon. Meanwhile, if December gets you in the mood for a holiday-themed read, why not check out Holidays Bite? Vampires and Christmas...what could go together better than that?

Takeovers

One of my favorite things about the holidays is the smell of too many delicious foods wafting from the kitchen! In lieu of my usual blog schedule this month, I've opened up for a yummy December Holiday Romance and Recipes blog takeover. Fellow authors will be sharing not only bits about their books, but some fabulous holiday treat ideas as well. As for me, I'll be making the guest blog rounds myself, sharing my mouth-watering fudge recipe.

Tossing Confetti

All was pretty darn quiet here in Blogsville during November because I was doing NaNoWriMo, busily pounding keys every day to get word count in on a new book. Normally,  I post daily blog updates and weekly snippets, aaaand yes, I did just that this time around. But as those who read last month's update know, I was writing under a different pen name. My progress reports went up on an all-new website, http://janellmichaels.com, where my more mainstream romance will be happening. But to sum up:

I won NaNo for the 10th time! Yay me! Hence why I titled this section Tossing Confetti.

On select Mondays, I like to gab about whatever's going on with me. For more gab, please join me on Twitter or Facebook. I love talking to people!
