On Sundays, I share tidbits of my works in progress as part of Weekend Warrior’s 8-Sentence Sunday. Since I’m still in plotting mode for my next project and gearing up for NaNoWriMo, today’s snippet is from my published urban fantasy title SEDUCED BY AN ANGEL, Book 3 of the Immortal Paradise series.
(Edited to meet the 8-sentence format.)
“What’s it like?” Kazia asked. “Being an angel.”
He grunted. “I’m not sure how to answer that.
What’s it like being a human?”
She threw a glance over her shoulder and smiled
the same smile that had thrown him completely off guard when he’d been
approaching the lounge to meet Michelle.
“What’s your
job, guardian angel?”
He turned to stare far out over the ocean and said, “That’s a more complicated question than you might think.”

Nice use of the 8's. I like her questions and his answers that give nothing away. Well done, J Rose.
ReplyDeleteI love angel romances. he's not giving anything away with his answers either. love it
ReplyDeleteDelightful eight. That last line really gets me pondering.
ReplyDeleteThe last line reflects the complications this angel is about to take on. Nice work!
ReplyDeleteShe's awfully evasive, and so is he. What a wonderful conversational dance they're having. Great eight!
ReplyDeleteI'm thoroughly intrigued - excellent excerpt!
ReplyDeleteSounds like both of them might have something to hide, especially him with his final answer. Great 8!
ReplyDeleteWhat's it like to be you--never an easy question to answer. It doesn't feel like he really tried, though. Wonder what's making his life so complicated?
ReplyDeleteA man that's being deliberately obtuse...I have a feeling her curiosity won't be curbed quite so easily.
