Losing Their Shirts -8 Sunday Final for NaNo 2013

~~Snippet contains mature language~~

On Sundays, I share tidbits of my works in progress as part of Weekend Warrior’s 8-Sentence Sunday. This is my final wrap-up post for NaNoWriMo 2013.

My NaNoWriMo project is a paranormal (erotic) romance titled DISARMING COWBOYS, book 7 of my Lone Wolves of Shay Falls series. I thought I'd finish off with a bang! This snippet is from a scene where rival wolf packs are about to have a free-for-all with our heroine Jayel tied up in the middle of it all.

Titus raised a finger and crooked it once, and his wolves exploded into action. Cowboys everywhere were ripping off shirts and melting away onto all fours. Dillon didn’t even manage to get his shirt off before shifting, but Jayel didn’t have time to contemplate how ridiculous a wolf looked dressed in a beer slogan T-shirt. Growls and wicked barks filled the air, along with shouts from those who still hadn’t shifted.
“Jayel!” Jerrod called out while Adam and the man who'd taken her weapons unchained him from the tree and all but dragged him away toward the bunkhouse.
“Leave Jerrod alone, you bastards!” she exclaimed, but they were in too big a hurry to pay attention.
She was still staring after Jerrod, tugging on the ropes lashing her to the tree, when her attention was drawn to a wolf who was approaching her with its ears forward and its teeth bared.
“Oh, fuck,” she whispered.

So what do you think?

End of NaNo wrap up:

I can't believe NaNo 2013 is history already! I crossed the official 50k finish line on day 23 for my 8th consecutive win, woo hoo! I'm now past 60k and going strong. I'm working on the final showdown, which spans across two chapters, so I didn't quite get the book finished by midnight on the 30th as I'd hoped. I plan to get the rest of the huntress's story done by the end of next week.

Congrats to all of us who participated and survived! Whew!

  1. I think I'm hooked, it's all VERY dramatic and I can't wait to read the entire book! Terrific snippet...

  2. A wolf in redneck clothing?

I'd say something similar if I were in her situation...
