# Post # Snippet Sunday

Saved by a Wolf -Snippet Sunday

It's Snippet Sunday, time for my Weekend Writing Warriors'  blog hop!

It's out! I can hardly believe that after such a long wait, Disarming Cowboys (Lone Wolves of Shay Falls 7) is finally out. In honor of the series conclusion, I'm posting a snippet from it. (Some creative editing was done to fit the snippet format.)

The scene: Jayel was being held captive in the midst of a werewolf battle that wasn't looking good for her. David, an annoyingly hot werewolf who blames her for killing his pack mate, abruptly unties her and carries her off into the woods. She flailed around, fighting him, and insisted that he put her down. We pick up from there...

To her shock, David halted and slid her along his body to the ground so quickly that her legs buckled and she stumbled against him, her equilibrium shot from the abrupt shift in gears.
She pushed herself away from his warmth, doing her best to steady herself against a tree trunk despite wobbling like a drunk riding backward on a merry-go-round.
“What the hell do you think you’re doing?” she asked, panting as though she’d been the one chugging full steam through the woods.
“I believe the words you’re looking for are, ‘Thank you for rescuing me.’”
She laughed. “Trust me, those aren’t close to the words I’m thinking.”
“Would you rather I’d let that wolf rip you to shreds?”
“As opposed to kidnapping me so you could do the ripping yourself?”
“Are you always this gracious when a man saves your life?”

“I wouldn’t know--I’ve never had my life saved by a man.”

*
Wonder why David would "rescue" the woman who killed his pack mate?
What do you think?

About DISARMING COWBOYS, the captivating conclusion of the series:

Jayel has hunted the werewolves of Shay Falls since the night a pack killed her parents and turned her brother into one of them. Now a power-hungry alpha has turned the tables, capturing her and holding her hostage on a ranch while the allied packs decide whether to use her in their fight against a returning enemy, or simply to kill her.
Jerrod wants to do more than rescue her—but her white-hat hero is a werewolf too. And one of her annoyingly sexy captors, David, has an erotic, seductive nature that stirs unsettling urges at the worst time imaginable. One of them can’t claim her fast enough. The other will fight the potent and primal instinct to make a werewolf killer his mate.
With enemies on all sides, Jayel will face unforeseen consequences of her quest for vengeance, and the results could end all hope of happiness with the two wolves who can no longer live without her.

About the LONE WOLVES series:

They are cowboys torn from their livelihood after a fateful bite changed their destinies forever. When their pack is disbanded by the new alpha, the lone wolves are forced to roam the woods of Shay Falls with no way to return to the ranch life they once knew. Each must find a male pack mate of his own-and a female to hold that bond together.

  1. Haha- so glad she's got the snappy comeback, even if she's a bit discombobulated. :-)

  8. I'm guessing he saved her because he secretly likes (or at least lusts) for her.

    1. Now, when a boy likes you secretly, aren't they supposed to punch you on the arm and run away?

  9. "...drunk riding backward on a merry-go-round..." Now that's quite a mental image! I don't know, if he wanted her dead, there had to be easier ways. She might trust him a little.

    1. Trust is a 4-letter word to her, so we'll see whether she loosens up...

  13. I love this description! "... wobbling like a drunk riding backward on a merry-go-round." ROFL! That is such a great image in my head. I do wonder why he would rescue someone who just killed his packmate though. Wouldn't he be furious instead? But yet he seems...calm. I love her snappy replies and hotheaded nature, reminds me of one of my characters, especially that last line which is a complete gem. Great snippet! I definitely want to see how this exchange turns out.

    And congrats on the release!

    1. I'm betting he's as confused about his actions as you are, as there is more at work here than what's on the surface. Thank you for the feedback!

  14. That rescue does sound suspicious but maybe there is a lot more to the story than his mate murder.

  15. Not sure if she was being rescued or headed to a painful demise, no wonder she was disoriented.
