OMG Overnight Oatmeal-Super Easy/Healthy Breakfast!

It's Too Yummy Tuesday!

Stay tuned below for TWO giveaways and more awesome recipes!

On select Tuesdays I share delicious recipes either inspired by my books or that are just plain delicious!

Okay, a few weeks ago I posted microwave-in-a-mug muffins that were a fast, easy, and healthy way to avoid skipping breakfast during the morning rush. Here's another breakfast idea that will take you zero time in the morning and five minutes of prep the night before--this time using that wondermous invention, the crock pot.

OMG Overnight Oatmeal

A friend of mine posted this on Facebook, where it was a re-post with like a ton of shares and likes, so I never did figure out where it originated. Talk about easy! Dump it all in, let it think about what it's done overnight, and you have healthy, heavenly-smelling oatmeal in the morning. Oh, yeah. And if you buy pre-cut apples, you don't even have to pull out a knife.

Ingredients

2 apples, slicked
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
A pinch salt
2 cups of oatmeal (not instant)
2 cups of milk
2 cups water.

Directions

Lay apple slices in bottom of crock pot. Sprinkle on brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
Pour oatmeal over this, followed by milk and water.
Do NOT stir.
Cook on low heat 8-9 hours (overnight). Enjoy!

  1. I love oatmeal but would never have thought of using a crock pot. Sounds great!

    1. I LOVE my crockpot and have made recipes for every meal with it, including dessert. I've also been known to whip it out even in the dead of summer, since it heats the house up a lot less than turning on the oven.

  2. I wish someone in my family liked oatmeal besides me -- this would be a great way to fix it for several people! It would be so easy and, I am sure, very tasty! Maybe I will try it anyway!

    1. You know, that doesn't stop me! My husband isn't a fan, and my daughter will eat oatmeal for a while, then she bans it from her will-eat list. So I would make it for myself and eat the leftovers for the next couple days!
