I'll be posting daily updates about my experiences doing November's National Novel Writing Challenge.
Throughout November I'm posting my daily updates and favorite lines written as I draft my new book, Heat of the Dragon. I'll also post the treat I got to open each day as part of my NaNoWriMo advent calendar box.

After yesterday's update, I managed to overcome the grogginess and get some writing in during late afternoon and early evening. I joined two group sprints with the local regional NaNoers. These sprints are life and rainbows and everything that is good! They have really helped me with my word count.
If you're wondering what a "sprint" is, I'm not talking about lacing up my jogging shoes and running out the door. A sprint is a timed writing session where you write as much as you can in a certain number of minutes. No editing, no backspace key. The results can be a bit "messier" since I'm normally an edit-as-you-go person, but editing must wait until December! This month's all about getting the story out on the pages.
Yesterday's day off was very nice, but I'll be driving down the hill for the next four days to do work shifts at the other job. Got some words in this morning already, will do more when I can on work breaks. By the way, my new laptop decor has had a great side effect...when coworkers come into the break room and see my laptop open and earbuds in (while I play my epic soundtrack music to write by), they are immediately quiet and do their best not to distract me. Or it could be that the "warning" about bystanders being written into the novel might be scaring them off, LOL. It's not at all what I expect because hey, it's a group break room! But it's been wonderful to see such support.
Daily Goody Treat:
Treat bag #3: This had the cutest little piggie marshmallow treat, a chocolate truffle (because every day should have a little chocolate!), and today's quote card is by Rami: "Shine like the whole universe is yours."

Her nearness triggers more heat than he can handle, and the spirit of his grandfather warns the consequences could be fatal. Visions of a new threat to Jessica will force him to face the woman he ran from, but how can he save her when he can't tame the fiery dragon lurking inside?
