# NaNoWriMo # On Writing

NaNoWriMo 2018 Day 5: A Case of the Mondays

I'll be posting daily updates about my experiences doing November's National Novel Writing Challenge.

Throughout November I'm posting my daily updates and favorite lines written as I draft my new book, Heat of the Dragon. I'll also post the treat I got to open each day as part of my NaNoWriMo advent calendar box.

Daily Notes:

The first Monday of NaNoWriMo! I'm weird about Mondays. Sometimes, A Monday feels like the beginning of new possibilities. I face it like a hero with a cape ready to dive in and save the day. Other Mondays...well, I want to dive right back under the covers and write it off as a bad idea.

Today was a combination of the two. I was ready to say MEH to Monday when I remembered it's a NaNo Monday! I let myself doze an extra 15 minutes, then hung out with the kid and dog for a good while before jumping in to finish off Chapter Two of the book. (Kid is already talking Christmas List. Dog was mostly wanting belly rubs and a game of tug.) With much of the morning taken by important matters, I managed to get just over halfway to the 1,667 daily goal. Kids and puppies don't stay that way forever, and I want to enjoy every minute I can. :)  I'll get more writing in once I'm down the hill at work. There's always the 9 pm group sprint!

Daily Word Count: 2198 (since last post time)

Daily Goody Treat:

Treat bag #5: A chocolate truffle, the stuff of all life, and today's quote card by Evelyn Marcus Solero: "A possibility was born the day you were born and it will live as long as you live."

Progress to Date:

Favorite Line Written Today:
As ugly as his shift into dragon form had been, trying to change back was even worse. The dragon didn’t like to let go when it had control, and Tristan shuddered violently, shutting his eyes and trying to bring out his human side. The animal roared, enraged at Tristan’s attempts to be contained again, and it planted its feet, tail whipping viciously back and forth.

About this year's NaNo, Heat of the Dragon:

For years, Tristan stayed away from his destined mate to protect her from the dragon nature even his native medicine practices can't control. Battling the beast grows harder with each passing day, especially since returning to the town where Jessica is close enough to touch. Her nearness triggers more heat than he can handle, and the spirit of his grandfather warns the consequences could be fatal.  Visions of a new threat to Jessica will force him to face the woman he ran from, but how can he save her when he can't tame the fiery dragon lurking inside?

Book 2 of the Kiss of the Dragon series.
